Stop Procrastinating: 4 Money Moves to Make Now

We know your to-do list is probably already way too long, but can we convince you to add four more items?

As U.S. News explains, these four simple to-dos will make a big difference in your finances — and they won’t take too much time to complete!

1. Lose Those Bank Fees

First, take a look at your bank fees. Are you paying a monthly fee to use your bank account? If you are, it’s time for your bank account to stop costing you money.

There are two ways of doing it: First, you can call your bank and ask them to waive the fee.

If that doesn’t work, it might be time to open a new bank account.

2. Get an EMV Credit Card

Next, it’s time to ask for an EMV credit card. These cards include microchips that, as U.S. News puts it, “encrypt the card information and make in-person transactions more secure.”

Contact your credit card issuers and ask if they can send you EMV cards to replace your old ones.

3. Start Saving for the Holidays

The holidays are coming whether you’re ready or not — so get financially ready by putting aside a little bit of money every week into a dedicated holiday savings account.

If you save $40 or $50 dollars every week, you might not have to put your holiday spending on your new EMV credit card!

4. Evaluate Your Health Insurance

Lastly, it’s time to consider your health insurance plan, and whether your current coverage is the best option for you and your family.

Open enrollment for the Health Insurance Marketplace begins on November 1, 2015, and runs through January 31, 2016. Set aside some time to look at the available plans, compare them to your current coverage and decide if it’s time for a change.

If you get all four of these to-dos done, great! Even if you only have time to complete one or two of them, you’re still taking important steps toward improving your finances.
