Against The Grain has already awarded 30 scholarships since 2011 to students pursuing degrees in fashion and graphic design, entrepreneurship, visual arts, journalism and more.
This year, applicants can choose one of four scholarship opportunities based on their college major. Award money ranges between $1,000 and $5,000, depending on which one you select.
The application window is open now, but don’t delay. The deadline is May 7, 2018.
The Against The Grain Productions Scholarship Contest
Here’s how to enter to win a scholarship from Against The Grain Productions.
Scholarship amount: $1,000 to $5,000.
Available scholarships (select one):
- Against The Grain Artistic Scholarship for students pursuing a major in the performing arts, visual arts, journalism and/or mass communications.
- Against The Grain Groundbreaker Leadership Scholarship for students who exhibit exemplary leadership, vision and passion.
- Lyly Koenig Mendez Memorial Scholarship for students pursuing a major in fashion and/or graphic design.
- The Lily Pabilona Emerging Entrepreneur Award for students who have demonstrated strong entrepreneurial spirit and initiative.
To qualify for these scholarships, an applicant must:
- Be of at least 50% Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity.
- Be a citizen, U.S. national or legal permanent resident of the U.S.
- Be a high school senior or a college student currently enrolled full time at an accredited U.S. vocational school, junior college or four-year college or university.
- Be a full-time, degree-seeking student by the upcoming academic calendar year.
- Have demonstrated leadership abilities.
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
To apply, applicants must:
- Complete the application.
- Submit a portfolio, video presentation or business plan, where applicable.
- Provide proof of residency or citizenship.
- Submit a resume highlighting leadership, community service and extracurricular activity.
- Provide a transcript.
- Submit up to two letters of recommendation (optional).
- Provide a letter of college acceptance.
- Provide proof of enrollment upon acceptance.
- Meet specific eligibility requirements where applicable.
Scholarship deadline: May 7, 2018.
Winners will be announced: August 2018.
