10 Money-Saving Secrets Every Bath & Body Works Shopper Needs to Know

Pop quiz: What’s the best-smelling store in the mall?

If you said Bath & Body Works, we’d have to agree with you.

We love all the store’s products — from soap to candles. But we’re especially addicted to its delicious scents, like warm vanilla sugar and sweet pea.

Let’s face it, though: All those so-yummy-smelling-you-could-eat-them products can be expensive.

Lucky for you, we’ve rounded up 10 smart ways to save money at Bath & Body Works.

1. Give Your Phone Number and Email

The last time you were checking out, did you give the cashier your phone number and email?

Hopefully, yes — it’s an easy way to get coupons sent directly to you.

“It can [be] annoying to always give your cell number and email address every time you check out, even if you’re getting free stuff… but you want more free stuff, right?” says Jenn Peters of Because I’m Cheap. “So when the cashier asks for it, fork it over!”

Peters also suggests calling 1-800-756-5005 “every new season” and ask them to add you to the promotions list.

She says this often can get you coupons for a “free travel-size item” or “free signature-size item with $10 purchase.”

2. Become a Loyal Online Fan

Don’t stop there, though — subscribe via email and social media.

Like many companies, Bath & Body Works often shares special deals and promotions with its loyal fans first.

Here are links for its email newsletter, and Facebook, Instagram and Twitter channels.

3. Take Receipt Surveys

Not only can taking surveys earn you a side income, it can also get you discounts on your favorite products!

Bath & Body Works often includes survey offers on the bottom of its receipts — even for small purchases.

“Once you call (or go online) and complete the survey, [it] will give you a coupon code,” explains Laura Oliver of A Frugal Chick. “Generally, it is $10 off of $30.”

4. Hit the Big Sales

One key to saving at Bath & Body Works?

Timing.

The retailer has semi-annual sales in January and June — and you can use coupons on top of the 50%-75% discounts.

Since the products have a long shelf life (two to three years, according to a Twitter message from the company), these are good opportunities to stock up.

“Go right when the sale starts if you’re looking for discontinued stock, or near the end if you want the steepest discounts,” recommends our visual editor Heather Comparetto, a former BBW employee.

And don’t forget about the biggest shopping day of the year.

“Normally on Black Friday, a VIP bag is offered for $20 when you spend $40,” says The Krazy Coupon Lady. “Inside the bag is usually over $100 of merchandise.”

“What makes it even better is that — only on Black Friday — you can use more than one coupon per purchase,” Krazy Coupon Lady adds.

“For example, if your subtotal is $60, you can use two $10 off $30 coupons!”

5. Shop Bath and Body Works Online

We’re big advocates of shopping online — it allows you to stack deals and use extra discount codes.

Before shopping online, check Cashback Monitor to see offers presented by different shopping portals.

When we last checked, Splender gave 2% cash-back, while United MileagePlus gave an extra mile per dollar.

Then, do a quick Google search for “Bath & Body Works coupons” to see what pops up. You might find a coupon code for free shipping or other discounts.

Shopping online also frees up time you can use to start your own business, earn a side income or hang with your family.

6. Buy Bath & Body Works Gifts In-Store

Save on those wrapping paper costs!

If you’re purchasing gifts, it might be worth an in-store visit.

“If you shop in-store, they will give you a cello bag, ribbon and their traditional blue and white checked bag FOR FREE,” explains Yesterday on Tuesday’s Malia Karlinsky. “[The wrapping] is really cute.”

7. Purchase Discounted Gift Cards

This is one of our favorite tips, no matter where you’re shopping.

You can find discounted gift cards on sites like Raise, Gift Card Granny and Cardpool. When we looked, we found Bath & Body Works gift cards at up to 26% off!

Hint: If you use one of the aforementioned shopping portals, and a cash-back credit card to purchase the gift card, you’ll save even more.

8. Use Expired Bath & Body Works Coupons

If you forget to use one of your coupons, don’t fret; Bath & Body Works has a three-day grace period for expired coupons.

“Just ask nicely, and they will honor it,” says Jenn Peters, the blogger behind Because I’m Cheap.

9. Keep an Eye on the Prices

Like many retailers, Bath and Body Works offers a 14-day price guarantee on its items.

So, monitor prices for whatever you’ve purchased, and act fast if you see them go down. For online purchases, call 1-800-756-5005; for in-store purchases, just bring in your receipt.

“A one-time price adjustment from the original selling price to the current selling price will be issued for online or in store purchases within 14 days after the date of the original purchase,” according to the BBW website.

10. Use the 100% Guarantee

Even the most devoted Bath & Body Works fan will occasionally purchase a product they don’t love.

If it happens to you, don’t eat the loss.

Instead, take advantage of the retailer’s generous 100% satisfaction guarantee:

“If at any time you’re not completely satisfied with the quality of our products, you may return them to any of our Bath & Body Works stores.”

With these tips, you and your home are sure to stay fresh — and so will your budget!
