In afternoon trading on Tuesday, Materials stocks are the worst performing sector, showing a 2.6% loss. Within that group, Mosaic Co (NYSE: MOS) and CONSOL Energy Inc (NYSE: CNX) are two large stocks that are lagging, showing a loss of 7.8% and 7.3%, respectively. Among the high volume ETFs, one ETF closely following materials stocks is the Materials Select Sector SPDR ETF (AMEX: XLB), which is down 2.2% on the day, and down 14.09% year-to-date. Mosaic Co , meanwhile, is down 24.69% year-to-date, and CONSOL Energy Inc, is down 64.35% year-to-date. MOS makes up approximately 2.1% of the underlying holdings of XLB.
